It is with heavy hearts that the family of L. Lawson Mercer, age 92, of Bloomfield, NB, announces his death which occurred on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home. Lawson was born in Mercer Settlement, NB, on October 6, 1924, husband of the late Ada (Oaten) Mercer and a son of the late Ira and Edna (Thompson) Mercer. He is survived by his sister Ruth King of Norton, NB; step-son Gerald Scott and his wife Cherrie of England; step-granddaughter Julia Harper and her husband Paul of England; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Lawson was predeceased by his sisters: Annie Mercer, Sarah Mercer and Margaret Colpitts: brothers Robert Mercer and Harry Mercer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, where visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:00AM from Sherwood’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Riverbank Cemetery.
