Obituary of Walter Scovil
It is with sadness that the family of Walter Ivan Scovil, age 84, of Saint John, NB, announces his death which occurred on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Rocmaura Nursing Home. Walter was born in Queenstown, NB, on May 21, 1933, a son of the late Walter and Gladys (Mayes) Scovil.
Walter worked on the family farm until it was sold in 1970. He then moved to Fredericton with his parents and worked some time driving a delivery truck. In his earlier years, he enjoyed singing and music but with failing health he moved to Saint John where he lived since 1980.
He is survived by his brother James Scovil and his wife Edwina of Glenwood, NB; sisters: Georgie Webb and her husband Alden of Queenstown, NB; sisters: Pauline Cosgrove of Ottawa, ON, and Margaret Laird of Edmonton, AB; sister-in-law Betty Scovil; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Walter was predeceased by his brother Raymond Scovil; sister Kate MaGee; and brothers-in-law John MaGee, Robert Cosgrove and Windsor Laird.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. A private family memorial service will be held in memory of Walter. Interment will take place at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Queenstown, NB.
