Obituary of Neil Sparks
It is with great sadness that the family of Neil Terrance "Terry" Sparks of Springfield, NB, announces his passing which occurred on March 29, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, on February 12, 1944, he was a son of the late Neil P. and Agnes (Leahy) Sparks.
Terry was a 35-year veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (RCAF) achieving the rank of Master Warrant Officer. His career took him to many bases and stations all across Canada as well as overseas tours to France, Sardinia and Norway. In 1976, he deployed for 6 months as a UN peacekeeper to the Middle East (Egypt, Syria and Israel). Along with many other awards and medals he received, he was very proud to have received the Queens Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977, which marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of Elizabeth II's accession in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
Terry is survived by his daughter Cindy McCreadie and her husband Kenny of Springfield, NB; son Terry Sparks and his wife Jennifer of Clayton, ON; grandchildren: Sharelle Romero (Michael), Patrick Sparks (Rachel), Anthony Sparks, Rebekah McCreadie and Josh McCreadie; brother David Sparks (Cindy Lacko) of Springfield, NB; sister Ellen Jones (Vic) of St. Thomas, ON; several nieces and nephews, as well as close friend Jane Hodgson. Inaddition to his parents, Terry was predeceased by wife Jean Sparks.
The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the staff and physicians on 5AN/CCU for their wonderful care, expertise and compassion during his many admissions on the unit over the years and ultimately his final journey.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB and will be held privately. Memorial donations in memory of Terry may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
