Obituary of Purdy McMillan
It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Purdy McMillan announces his passing which occurred on August 14, 2020 at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Head of Millstream, NB, on August 26, 1929, he was the son of the late Allen and Lena (Hayes) McMillan.
Purdy is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Margaret (Muir) McMillan; children: Larry McMillan (Bernice) of Fredericton, NB, Janet Duke (Dale) of Whitby, ON, Jack McMillan (Joan) of Midland, NB, Pat Phippen of Florenceville, NB, Rick McMillan (Karen) of Belleisle Creek, NB, Teri Madden (Adrian) of Titusville, NB, Mike McMillan (Carol) of Belleisle Creek, NB, Kathy Hatfield (Mark) of Hatfield Point, NB, Tim McMillan (Sherri) of Norton, NB, and Jeff McMillan (Marilyn) of Norton, NB; son-in-law Rich Park of NL; thirty-six grandchildren; fifty-three great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sisters: Jean Bone of Sussex, NB, Joan Johnston (Charles) of Norton, NB, and Leona Mason of Watertown, MA; sister-in-law Elsie McMillan as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Purdy was predeceased by his daughter Debby Park; and brothers: Wayne, Ronald and Douglas McMillan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and the family’s wishes, private services will be held.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the Green Meadows Special Care Home and to the Sussex Extra Mural for all their care given towards Purdy. Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.
