Obituary of Shirley Crawford

After a short, but courageous battle with cancer, the death of Shirley Pearl Crawford, age 66, wife of Herbert G. Crawford, occurred at her residence in Riverbank, NB, on Monday, November 1, 2010. She was born in Midland, NB, on February 16, 1944, the daughter of the late Otty and Jean (Urquhart) Frazee. Mom was a "stay at home Mom" when we were growing up. Then she went to work at Pearsons Special Care Home, then at G&M Convenience, then Dalys Convenience in Norton for many years, she loved working with the public. Most recently she worked at Wal-mart until Dad had his stroke in January of this year, at which time she gave up her job to look after Dad. She was the most unselfish person, always putting everyone ahead of herself. Mom was always sending cards to friends and family for every special occasion of their lives. She was so thoughtful, and the world is a much better place just because she was in it. Her family was always her top priority, she was so proud of her grandchildren, and was a wonderful Wife, Nana, Mother, Sister and Friend. During her short illness, she never once complained and it showed to us how strong and brave she was. Up until the end she was only worried about how everyone else was and we are so proud and thankful to call her Mom. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Herb; son Steven Crawford of Saint John; daughters Susan and Stephen MacDonald of Norton, and Heather and Randy Justason of Pocologan; grandchildren Matthew and Chelsi Martin, Caleb MacDonald, Otty, Nick and Ina Justason; brother Everett and Joanne Frazee of Midland; sisters Ruth and Bill Sherwood of Norton, Maddy and Winston McIntyre of St. Martins, Ina Frazee of Kiersteadville, Anna and Jim McCrea of Shannon and Helen and Walter Branscombe of Long Point; sisters-in-law Elva Orchard of Norton and Margaret and Jim Swan of Oldtown, ME; aunts Reta Brown of Quispamsis and Bert and Bob Neal of Saint John; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert and Ernest. The family will receive visitors at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration Service of Shirley’s life, conducted by Pastor Wayne Murphy, will be held from Norton United Baptist Church, Norton, NB, at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2010. A private family interment will take place later in Midland Cemetery. Donations to the Extra-Mural or the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Condolences to the family may be made through www.sherwoodsfuneralhome.com
