Obituary of Gordie Lewis
After a lengthy illness, the death of Rev. Gordon Beverly Lewis, age 72, husband of Della (Bond) Lewis of Quispamsis, NB, occurred at Bobby’s Hope House, Saint John, NB, on February 2, 2011. He was born on August 19, 1938, in Sussex, the son of the late Harry and Edith (Dyer) Lewis.
Rev. Gordon Lewis (better known as "Gordie") was born in Sussex, NB and at the young age of 12, sensed the call of God to the ministry. Gordie's answer to this call, produced 33 years of service as a pastor. With his wife, Della, the love of his life of 51 years by his side, they served God and the people of Prince Edward Island together. Gordie was respected as a man of integrity. His kind and humble spirit and his love for people earned him many friends. Due to Gordie's love of food, visits to his home would always result in a feast. Gordie took pride in being organized. He was known for his ability to stretch the dollar and finding a bargain was a source of many conversations. Gordie, we will remember you most for your love for God and your love for your wife. Thank you for your example to us.
Gordie is survived by his wife Della; brother Rev. James and Ferne (Nickerson) Lewis of Rusagonis; sister Jean and Rev. Bruce Boyd of Midland; brothers-in-law Gordon, Lloyd and Marilyn and Dwight and Janet Bond; sisters-in-law Mildred and Wes Miller, Donna and Murray Nutter, Cheryl Court and Zonya and Brad Russell; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
