Obituary of George Kellow
The unexpected death of George Richard Kellow of Belleisle Creek, NB, age 85, occurred at Lower Millstream, NB, on Saturday, February 26, 2011. George was the husband of the late Rhoda (VanWart) Kellow. He was born on February 15, 1926 in Poytzfield, Scotland, the son of the late Walter and Margaret (Fraser) Kellow.
George was a good father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who was known as "Dad" by all. He loved the woods, whether he was hunting, trapping or cutting wood. He loved telling the kids scary stories about the Annidale bear or the Annidale snake. He enjoyed any hunting excursion with the grandkids and later the great grandkids. Some years ago he was a fantastic dart player. In recent years, he played cards at every opportunity. He was always concerned and asking about his family. Dad really enjoyed his American turkey dinners with all his family. He was our Dad and Grandad and we loved and appreciated him and we will dearly miss him.
George is survived by his daughters Lynn and Fred Vail of Belleisle Creek and Diane Kellow and Jay Kimball of Rothesay; son George and Avis Kellow of Saint John, grandchildren Kelly Vail and Kevin Raymond, Jason Vail and Jackie, George and Amanda Kellow; great grandchildren Tyler and Thomas Raymond-Vail; sister Peggy Barsoski of Arnprior, ON; special friend Nettie Kierstead; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Rose and brothers Walter and John.
The family will receive visitors at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, on Thursday, March 3, 2011, from 3 to 8 pm. A private family service will be held at a later date.
