Obituary of John Teakles
The death of John Lawrence Teakles, age 61, husband of Linda (Evans) Teakles of Southfield, NB, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Sunday, October 16, 2011. He was born on October 27, 1949, in Saint John, NB, the son of the late Lawrence and Barbara (Poley) Teakles.
John was quick to help out anyone often never accepting anything in return. He would never turn down a request of help no matter the time; night or day. He loved his family dearly and showed it by the things he did for them. He had a warm welcome smile for most, but if he did not like you he'd let you know.
He grew up in Norton and lived there most of his life in his family home. John loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed walking in the woods with his children. He was quick to smile and known for his one liners and dry wit. When he welded two pieces of metal together they stayed, one of his first welding jobs was building a skidder; this year that very same skidder showed itself in his yard some 30 plus years later ready to haul logs, evidence of his skill and work ethic.
John is survived by his wife Linda; children Matthew and Patty Teakles of Hatfield Point, Crystal Teakles and Ozzy Rennie of Hatfield Point, Adam Teakles of Hatfield Point, Amber Teakles and Shawn Smith of Saint John, and Shane Teakles of Hatfield Point; grandson Cameron; sisters-in-law, Debra Evans and her husband Pierre Lepine of Kingston, ON, Dawn Evans of Saint John, Sharon Evans of Sussex; brother-in-law Daniel Evans of Saint John and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Thursday from 2 until 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of John’s life will be held from Sherwood’s Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011. A private family interment will follow cremation.
Donations to a Living Memorial or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences to the family may be made through www.sherwoodsfuneralhome.com
