Obituary of Doris Tays
Doris May Tays (nee Robinson) of Norton, NB, wife of the late Horace Tays, passed away in her 97th year, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 23, 2011.
She is survived by five daughters, Carole (John) Hreno of Winnipeg, MB, Myrna (Donald) Richards of Hampton, Maureen Tays of Winnipeg, MB, Linda Tays of Moncton, Sheryl (Lee) Carruthers of Airdrie, AB; one son Brian (Lynn) Tays of Mercer Settlement; twelve grandchildren Joan Hreno, Trent Hreno, Travis Hreno, Eric Richards, Elizabeth Richards, Kimberley James, Danishka Esterhazy, Tyler Tays, Jonathan Tays, Luke Carruthers, Patrick Carruthers and Rebecca Carruthers; thirteen great grandchildren Spencer Keleher, Myles Keleher, Stefan Hreno, Maxwell Keleher, Owen Keleher, Xavier Richards, Corielynn Tays, Meredith Tays, Teagan Tays, Alex Tays, Harold Tays, Dakota Tays and Rebeka Godin; sister Margaret Piper of Lindsay, ON; sisters-in-law Thelma Tays of Saint John, and Morfydd Robinson of Peterborough, ON; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her sons Kenneth and Dale Tays; grandson Troy Tays; brothers Leslie Robinson and Robert Robinson; sister Elizabeth Robinson.
Doris was born on October 26, 1914, in Bywell, Hescham, Northumberland County, England the eldest daughter of James and Elizabeth (Harding) Robinson.
Doris led an active, busy life as a teacher, mother, grandmother and volunteer in her community. She treasured her many friends and was active in WI and ACW. She took a keen and informed interest in politics.
She is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Wednesday, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Service, conducted by the Rev. Wally Collett, will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at 11:00 am, from Church of the Ascension, Apohaqui, NB. Following cremation, interment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery.
