Obituary of Donald Raymond
The death of Donald Robert Raymond, age 67, husband of Ethel (Carter) Raymond, of Norton, NB, occurred at the Sussex Health Centre, Sussex, NB, on Saturday, December 31, 2011. He was born in Norton, NB, on June 9, 1944, the son of the late Robert and Pearl (Long) Raymond.
Donnie was a family man. He loved his wife & children and had a soft spot for all of his grandchildren. He was a man who loved the Lord and lived what he believed.
Never settle for less than your best seemed to be a motto he lived by. Everything he did, he did it wholeheartedly. Whether it be growing his vegetable garden in the summer which brought forth a bounty, or plying his hobby of making maple syrup and getting it boiled to perfection. Planting roses, trees and growing grapes were also favorite things to do. He had a green thumb and could make anything grow to look beautiful.
Bargain hunting was a passion of his. Where he could get the most chocolate for the cheapest price was where he could be found. Donnie loved his chocolates!
He will be forever loved & missed by his wife Ethel, of 39 years; son David Raymond and his wife Kristina of Rothesay, NB; daughters Pamela Sisco and her husband Nick of Ghana, Africa, Janet Bond and her husband Brent of Blacks Harbour, NB; grandchildren Jane, Clara, Kate, Allanah, Stephen, Isaiah, Madison; sister Marjorie Boyd and her husband Oscar; sister-in-law Eleanor Raymond; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his infant sister Joyce and brother Russell.
He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visitation on Saturday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service, conducted by Pastor Rick Vincent, will be held at Abundant Life Church, Sussex, NB on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will follow in Riverbank Cemetery.
