Obituary of John Urquhart
Surrounded by his family, John Christopher Urquhart, died peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Monday, June 11, 2012. He was 54, husband of Cindy (Cripps) Urquhart of Kingston, NB. John was born on October 29, 1957, in Sussex, NB, the son of the late Murray and Hazel (Law) Urquhart.
I would like this opportunity with family & friends to share my thoughts. It is not easy to put too pen but I have to let everyone know what a loving, caring and generous person John was. This man was not only my husband, he was my friend, my life and my true love.
The following message, pertains too our life together, his prior life, and the many years he struggled with his illness (Crohn’s). John & I met at a Norton Legion dance Mar 27, 1975, we dated for nine years. In 1980, John bought our lot in Kingston & built our lovely cape cod home with many helping hands from family. We were married by the justice of the peace in Saint John, July 27, 1984. We always did everything together, no matter what it was. We were a team.
John was the youngest of seven children; Bill, Walter, Harry, Celia, Murray, Bryan & loving parents, Murray & Hazel. John resided with his parents until we were married on a beautiful farm in Lower Kars, which he had many wonderful memories.
He was a carpenter by trade. In 1996 John also took an accounting course for a year & a half until his illness flared up and he was hospitalized again, but he never gave up. John was 18 when diagnosed with Crohn’s which takes a huge toll on your life. He had 3 major surgeries, several flare ups with many painful days & nights, but John’s will was so strong for a small body. He would always pick himself up & dust himself off, there has been so many times that I wondered where he found the strength & endurance.
The prior week was so difficult for me to watch him suffer so much, my heart just went out to him. John knew before he left home for the hospital, this was the end for him. He wanted to remain at home, but I thought there was still hope but it was not to be.
What I will always hold dearly to my heart is that John left me so peacefully into the arms of God & family with no more pain & suffering.
Always remember that John had a heart of gold, his family came first, he loved children who were a huge part of his life. Each person has their own memory of John, please treasure them forever. Thank You dear for our many years together. I will always love you. Cindy xoxo
