Obituary of Norm Bevans
The death of Norman William Bevans, age 86, husband of Madeline (Craft) Bevans of Shannon, NB, occurred at the Great Oaks Special Care Home, McDonald’s Point, NB, on Thursday, August 30, 2012. He was born in Saint John, NB, on January 8, 1926, the son of the late Daniel and Gladys (Jones) Bevans
Norm has been described as a social, outgoing, gentle man who was a mentor to many and a fully committed follower of Christ. After serving in World War 2 in the Navy and teaching, Norm became an air traffic controller and retired after 29 years of service at age 60. He has been a member of the Legion for over 40 years and the Gideons for over 15 years. He enjoyed fishing throughout New Brunswick and gardening at the Bevans Homestead in Shannon. He will be remembered as a family centered man of God.
He is survived by his wife Madeline; daughter Annette Pollock (Art) of Shannon; daughter-in-law Gloria; grandchildren Joe Pollock (Kari), Danny Bevans, Michael Pollock, Shannon Hoar (Adam) and Ben Bevans (Crystal); 10 great grandchildren; several cousins.
Resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Sunday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service, conducted by Jock Otis, will be held from Sherwood’s Chapel at 11:00 am., on Monday, September 3, 2012. A private family interment will take place in Shannon Cemetery.
