Obituary of Bryan Urquhart
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Bryan David Urquhart, husband of Lynn (Landry) Urquhart of Norton, NB, on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at the Sussex Health Centre. Bryan was born on March 9, 1953, in Saint John, NB, the son of the late Murray and Hazel (Law) Urquhart.
Bryan's upbringing influenced many of his interests and hobbies including fishing, hunting, trapping and gardening. He was an active member of the community volunteer fire department, and held the position of captain for several years. He was also instrumental in setting up the Norton Community Access Center. He loved spending nights playing poker with friends and was a joker at heart, nicknaming anyone close to him. He was dedicated to his career with the Department of Transportation and more importantly, dedicated to his family. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family, now and always.
Bryan is survived by his wife Lynn; daughters Amanda Urquhart and fiancée Andrew Tugwell of Saint John and Amy Urquhart of Halifax; sister Celia Kennedy and husband Willard of Hampton, NB; brothers Bill Matheson and wife Dale of Bolton, ON, Harry Matheson of Norton, NB, Walter Matheson and wife Bella of French Village, NB, Murray Urquhart and wife Shannon of Bedford, NS, Sister in law Cindy Urquhart of Kingston and best friend, Richard Crawford of Belleisle. Bryan is also survived by Lynn’s family, Ann & Paul McLaughlin of Norton, Henry & Joanne Landry of Edmonton, AB, Rose & Stephen Ricketson of Norton, Stephen & Amy Fleming of Norton, Bev & Bruce Floyd of Erb Settlement, David & Jennifer Fleming of Norton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bryan was predeceased by brother John Urquhart.
He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Bryan's life, conducted by Rev. Leo Martin, will be held from Sherwood's Chapel at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Interment will be at Riverbank Cemetery at a later date.
