The death of George Marshall Folkins, age 86, of Midland, NB, occurred at the Sussex Health Centre, on June 19, 2013, following a period of failing health. He was the son of the late Marshall and Elizabeth (Haslam) Folkins. George was born on February 17, 1927, and lived all of his life on the family farm in Midland, NB. He was a farmer and proud of it. He is survived by sisters Helen and her husband Malcolm Brooks of Ottawa, ON, and Lois Ravn of Sussex, NB, as well as, several nieces nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Doris and her husband Rolph O’Neill of Belleisle Creek, his brother Leonard and his wife Sara Folkins of LaCombe, AB, brother-in law Gunnar Ravn of Millbrook, and infant brother Kenneth. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. At George’s request there will be a private family burial at Midland Cemetery with no visitation. Donations in George’s memory may be made to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
