Obituary of Augustus Walker

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Augustus Horace Walker, age 93, dearly loved husband of the late Margaret (McLellan) Walker, of Cambridge-Narrows, NB, which occurred peacefully at his home in Hanwell, NB, on Saturday, November 9, 2013, with his daughter by his side. He was born on December 16, 1919, in Biggleswade, England, the son of the late James and Florence (Farr) Walker. Augustus Walker arrived in New Brunswick from England as a boy of 8 in 1928. On their arrival from England, he and his parents and brother and sister moved to the Narrows where he worked beside his father to establish a farm. At the beginning of the Second World War his family left the farm and moved to Saint John where all the members of his family joined the army and his mother ran a boarding house for soldiers. Early in his military life he met Margaret McLellan and married her in September of 1941. When the war ended, Augustus and Margaret moved back to the farm at the Narrows with their first daughter. During their lifetime they produced 6 daughters who are now living in New Brunswick and Ontario with their families. The couple became staunch supporters of the local Anglican Church, "the Church of the Good Shepherd" where he became a life-long member. Augustus held a number of important positions in the Church administration over the years. In addition to farming during the fifties and sixties he drove a school bus from Cambridge-Narrows to Chipman. He retired from his bus driver position at the age of 65.
