The death of Ronald Thomas Anderson, age 99, of Shannon, NB, formerly of West Saint John, NB, husband of the late Clara (Amero) Anderson, occurred at Great Oaks Special Care Home on Friday, November 21, 2014. He was born on December 8, 1914 in Saint John, NB, a son of the late Arnold and Ellen (Berg) Anderson. Ron was the proud owner of Ron’s Diner at the Saint John Winter Port. He is survived by his sons Ronald Anderson of Saint John, NB, Brian Anderson and his wife Pat of Saint John, NB; sister Ella Maxwell of Chilliwack, BC and eleven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Dianna Blanchard and his son Victor Anderson. A sincere thank you to Dorothy and Alvin McDonald and their wonderful staff at Great Oaks Special Care Home, best bed and breakfast in Wickham. Ron and I could not have done it without you. Thank you to Ron’s good friends, Bruce Lawson and Bryon Armstrong for machine repairs, plumbing, winter wood and fresh eggs. Christina Craft for friendly visits and tea breaks and good neighbour’s, Steve and Liona Chamberlain. Gwen Reicker, thanks for making it possible for Ron to remain in his home as long as possible. Ron said you were the best bargain shopper he knew, we loved the curtains! Mary and Christopher Anderson for your visits and taking Ron for Christmas dinner and just being there. Lastly, thanks to Dyson Regular and Sherwood’s Funeral Home for helping guide us through Ron’s wishes. He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre, (506) 839-2156, 18 Scovil Road, Norton, with visiting on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 from 11:00am to noon. Funeral Service, conducted by Rev. John Carroll, will begin at noon from Sherwood’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, West Saint John.
