Obituary of Margaret Dorothy Morris
It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Dorothy Morris announce her passing, which occurred on November 26, 2020 at the Sussex Health Centre in Sussex, New Brunswick. Born in Saint John, NB, on February 28, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Canning) Manning.
Known as Marg to all who knew her, she was well known in her communities of Hatfield Point and MacDonalds Point. Married to Edward Morris for ten happy years before his passing in 1984, she and Ed operated a variety store in MacDonalds Point. Marg also enjoyed working as a Registered Nursing Assistant in Cape Breton, NS, in Terrace, BC, and at the Kings County Memorial Hospital in Sussex, NB. She always had a cheerful sense of humour with all her patients and friends.
Through the years Marg fostered several children, providing a home and security for them, and they remained in her family for years. Marg’s daily enjoyment in her later years was knitting, especially woolen work socks for many people. She often watched her favourite sports on T.V, including all of the curling bonspiels, especially the Newfoundland team, led by Brad Gushue! She also loved watching golf, with her favourite pro-golfer Rory McIlroy!
Marg was always willing to be on the go for any activity, seeing familiar faces wherever she went. She was known for always lending a helping hand and giving of herself to anyone in need.
Marg is survived by her loving foster children: Mike McIsaac of Hatfield Point, and Reita Evans also of Hatfield Point; her sister, Joan (Dan) Panting of Pictou, NS; and her brother-in-law, Paul Perry of Harvey, NB.
Along with her parents and loving husband, Edward, Marg was predeceased by her sister, Nina Perry.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Sussex Health Centre Emergency Department, Dr. Allaby, Dr. MacMullin, and the staff of South Wing for the excellent care given to Marg in the few weeks she was in their care. Also, thanks to friends and neighbours for their support during this difficult time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB where visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 2 to 4pm & 6 to 8PM.
