Obituary of Gary Scott
It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Eugene Scott announce his passing which occurred on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at his home in Belleisle Creek, NB. Gary was born in St. Stephen, NB, on May 8, 1944 and lived until the age of 79 years old.
As a young teenager Gary moved to Belleisle and grew up in the loving home of Roy and Agnes Pope and worked on their farm. Gary met the love of his life, Deborah Muir, and they were married on January 30, 1971. They had three children; Darren, Tammy and Shawnee. He was a devoted husband and father, and to better provide for his family he enrolled in the Maritime Forest Ranger School. Gary loved his career as a forest ranger and treasured his friendships along the way. He worked 35 years until his retirement in May 2010.
Gary had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed every opportunity to be in the woods hunting and fishing, or camping with Deborah and the kids.
His family was his world and gatherings with everyone together was what he looked forward to most. He was a Toronto Blue Jays fan, enjoyed card games, listened faithfully to George Jones and in his younger years, worshipped Elvis and fast cars. He was also dearly loved by his grand dogs.
He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and always made sure they knew it.
A more gentle, steady man you would not find. Gary was wise, loving and patient, he listened more than he spoke, and he never judged. No one left a visit with Gary without being told "there's no hurry" or "watch for deer."
Gary is survived by his wife of 52 years, Deborah (nee Muir) Scott; son Darren Scott (Becky) and their two daughters Abigail (Bradley Bernard) and Emily (Mark Morrison); daughters Tammy Scott-Wallace (Troy Wallace) and their children Jaime and Kegan, and Shawnee Bolt (Stephen) and their children Kyle (Nicole Belliveau) and Hailey McCandless (Jacob); Deborah's 11 brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews who he loved as his own. He was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Mansel and Yvonne Muir of Belleisle Creek, NB.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB where visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 6 to 8PM.
