Dear Al, Cindy and Ethan,
I’m so sorry to hear about Sonnie. This must be a very difficult time for you, and I hope to attend the funeral parlour this evening. However, in case the weather stops us, I thought I would share some memories here.
Sonnie was my full-time babysitter when I was a toddler, and some of my very earliest memories were of her pushing me around Uptown in my stroller. Many people have told me how wonderful she was to me, and never complained even though I was quite unruly!
One of my strongest memories from that time is of Sonnie and Marlene being excited about "Bangor”. I didn’t know what Bangor was, but it must have been a shopping trip. It shows the sisters’ cheerful spirit that this made such an impression on me!
A few years later, my dad and I were at a Flames game and met Sonnie and Al at the concession stand. One of the players broke his stick, and Al went straight down to the home team bench to get it for me. He brought it up and it was long enough for me to use once the broken end was evened off.
When Sonnie and Al got married, they asked me to sit at a little table to ask people to sign the guest book. I remember being proud of the golden-coloured pen they gave me, since I had never used such a fancy writing instrument before.
Reading the other messages of condolence, I can see that many others benefitted from Sonnie’s warm and encouraging personality. We will miss her.

Cindy, Ethan and Al we were so sorry to hear of Sonja's passing. I was so pleased to run into Sonja and Al this summer in Sussex at Tim Hortons. Sonja was always the same--happy, upbeat and pleased to see people from her family. She was a special niece to my Gram Boyd (Elsie). I remember many summer sunporch visits at Gram and Gramps with Sonja with her mom and dad John and Thelma Landry.

Wishing Sonya's family peace and comfort during this difficult time. My memories of "Sonie" were when the cousins gathered at our grandparents' home (and beach) on Belleisle Bay. Though we later lived in different provinces, Sonja is part of the family memories that I treasure. I am sorry for her passing.
