Obituary of Gertrude MacLaren
Edna Gertrude MacLaren passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at the Country Lane Estates Care Home, Burton, NB. Born in St. Peters Harbour, PE, on January 5, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Minnie (Baker) Hawbolt.
Gertrude is survived by her children: Debbie Urquhart (Barry) of Quispamsis, NB, Valerie Reid (Dale) of Chauvin, AB, Darlene Wilson (Stephen) of Fredericton, NB and Alfred MacLaren (Coralie) of Portage la Prairie, MB; grandchildren: Amanda Atyolil, Jason Urquhart, Jim Long, Joshua Long, Adena MacLaren, Jeremy Long, Scott Reid and Jamie Reid; great-grandchildren: Ella, Eason, Eli, Emilie, Coen, Landon, Silas, Beckham, and Aubrey. Brother Martin Hawbolt (Joan) of Orillia, ON; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents, Gertrude was predeceased by her loving husband Alfred Allison MacLaren in 2010; sisters: Lois Thibeau, Eileen Howitt and Edith Webster; and grandson Tyler MacLaren.
A sincere thank you to all the staff at Country Lane Estates for their wonderful care given to our Mother over the past year. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Also, thank you to Dr. Raelyn Lagace and the extra-mural staff for all their professional help previously and during her time of sickness.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, from 4 to 7PM at Capital Community Church. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00AM from Capital Community Church, 71 Downing Street, Fredericton, NB. The interment will take place at West St. Peters Cemetery, West St. Peters, PE, on Saturday April 6, 2024, at 1pm.
