Obituary of Billie Ross

It is with broken hearts the family of Wilhilemania Pauletta Cavelle Ross announce her passing at her home on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the age of 81. She was born in Corner Brook, NL on December 14, 1942, a daughter of the late Elizabeth Brown.

Billie is survived by her loving husband Jacques Dumont of Picadilly, NB; daughter Liz Osmond (Allan) of Picadilly, NB; sons Murray Doucette (Francine) of North Bay, ON and Robert Doucette (Jessica) of Ottawa, ON; her pride and joy, her granddaughter Haley Doucette (Randy) of Halifax, NS, and “sister” Mary Kennedy of Hamilton, ON. Besides her mother, Billie was predeceased by her first husband, Albert Doucette; second husband, Donald Ross; brothers, Eric Brown and Marmaduke Kennedy; nieces Cornelia Kennedy, Dorothy Brown and Angela Brown; nephew Adam Brown.

Billie came from Newfoundland and was proud of it. She had a real love of fishing and got her two fishing licenses every year. She purchased her bucket of worms and fished the Kennebecasis River enjoying especially the first day and the last.

She was a super cook and loved to feed people. Even when she was unwell, she guided Jacques in the kitchen with instruction to make food to share with those around. NO ONE went hungry if she had her way. She was generous to everyone she met, and it brought her so much joy to give to others and see the happiness it brought them. She was involved in many groups such as Parkinsons Group, Cancer Survivors Group (always doing the yearly Cancer Walk), and the Norton Seniors Group. Every Senior received a Birthday Card from Billie every year. When Christmas time came, she sent out over 100 cards (often with a little item in them). She brought JOY, and she will be missed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, where visitation will be held on Friday, September 20th, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00pm. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 21st, 2024, at 11:00am from Sherwood’s Funeral Home Chapel.
