I was so sorry to hear of Margaret's death! Sending all of you my sympathies! I had so much respect and love for Margaret. She was a wonderful neighbour. Margaret was a terrific 4-H leader. She helped teach those of us who were members of the Searsville Willing Workers 4-H club, how to sew. Margaret also taught my brothers and myself, Sunday School at St. Simon and St. Jude's Anglican Church. Margaret was so kind, friendly and caring.
Love to you all! God bless!

Sending condolences to all the family. As a kid, I considered Margaret and Purdy the “young couple “ of my parents era. Time passes so quickly, hard to realize they both had reached their 90’s. Had a lovely visit with both of them in the special care home a few summers ago. They are together once more, released from their worldly cares. Lives well lived are a true blessing. May the love of family and friends carry you through the coming weeks.

Such a beautiful lovely and a beautiful spirit! Margaret was a founding member of the Pleasant Valley Stitchers and served the group both as an officer and as our teacher many times over the years. We were so proud of her for continuing her stitching and showing her work at the Sussex Fair too, winning prizes often. Her work was also used as the publicity piece for the embroidery show held at the Saint John Arts Centre in June 2013. Even during the last years of her life at home, Purdy drove her to stitchers to give her pleasure. What a wonderful couple they were, and what an example to us all.
You, the loving and caring family that she was so proud of were surely blessed in your wonderful mother. All her stitching friends are with you in grieving her loss and also in celebrating her full life. With great sympathy.

To all of Margaret's family,
I'm sending my deepest sympathy to you all on the loss of your beautiful Mom and Grandmother. My memories of Margaret start with the Pleasant Valley Stitcher's Guild, and getting to know her through our wonderful friend, Lila. Margaret shared her love of embroidery with our group and made it look easy! It wasn't easy, but she was a very patient teacher! I was lucky to have afternoon tea with Margaret and Purdy a time or two, it was always such a pleasure to see them. They were so proud of their big family!
Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Mary

My condolences go to all of the McMillan family. One of my special memories was baby sitting the children while Margaret and Purdy went to the U.S. for the weekend when I was still a teenager. They were a delight to be with because the older ones help a lot to look after the younger ones. I remember visiting when Janet was home while I had made a trip home from Winnipeg and the last visit I made was when your parents were in the Nursing Home in Belleisle. They both remembered me. They were special people in my heart and of the community.

Sending our sincere sympathy to you on the loss of your mother. What a beautiful picture this is of her! Your parents were wonderful Searsville neighbors and friends to many in the community. .....Heartfelt condolences to all the family....
I really enjoyed my hours with your Mom and Dad,listening to the stories about the trains going by....being a teacher....going through pictures with your Mom and her trying to remember who's this little one this one belonged to.... we would sit in her sewing room looking through books and seeing all her beautiful hand work...the story about the quilt on her bed....tea time was fun at three, watching the birds in their little chairs...and Purdy tell me .."I was going to fatten him up"......then in to the living room to work on the puzzle while she watched Purdy go to see if they had any mail....once supper was over Margaret would head to the living room to watch the news and get her knitting out to work on her squares.....It was a time well spent with two lovely people.....you all have made them very proud of who you have become.....hugs to you all...

On behalf of my family I'd like to express condolences to the family of Margaret McMillan. Growing up on the Searsville road is something I'd love to relive. As children not only did we have so much fun but we had many families to aspire to be like and look up to like the family of Margaret McMillan. Kindness and love are only 2 qualities we were taught and surrounded by...... work ethic was another and Margaret and her husband Purdy certainly instilled that in her family and positively influenced many including me in the same way. I will always remember Margaret and my childhood growing up on the Searsville road. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

When I heard of your mum's passing, I thought of what I remember first about her. It was her smile that she always seemed to wear and also the giggle. The other unforgetable thing, that coincidentally I was telling Glenn about not long ago, was the smell of fresh bread when I was over to play at the "old" house. I think I was probably overwhelmed at the number of loaves made at once too. Our family was so small by comparison though! There are many great memories as neighbors next door. So, to my "line fence playmates" and the rest of the family my sincere sympathy as you say good bye to a wonderful mother. She has quite a legacy!
